Inexpensive Favor Bags

I love the paper bag look for certain things. I love it as gift wrapping with some cute ribbon and other personalization!  They are large, they are neutral and very suited for favor bags too!

There are of course many, many things you can do to make plain paper bags into fun favor bags. This is what I chose to do for this party:

They are pretty easy to customize, simple to make and quite inexpensive too!

You will need:

  1. Brown paper bags
  2. Scissors/craft knife
  3. Double-sided tape
  4. Imaging program and printer
  5. Bone folder (optional)
  6. This blank template

Your first step is to download the template, open it in your imaging program and fill in your details.

Next, print out what you created. There are 4 to a sheet, so print enough sheets to cover your favor bag needs.

You will see that I have marked the fold line. Take your sheet of labels and fold along that line. Do this BEFORE you cut out the labels!

PA125118[1] Apply the double sided sticky tape. You don’t really have to cover the entire length, just about 3/4 of it so it sticks well.

PA125119[1] The next step is folding the flaps of the paper bags. I would recommend folding them before you fill them. It’s much easier to do this when they are still flat.

To have them all the same size, either measure or eyeball it from one bag to the next. You want them to be all the same size/height when you are done!

I did 1.5 inches from the top for the first fold, then just folded it one more time onto itself.

Smooth the folds with a bone folder or any other means that gets you a sharp fold.

Fill the favor bags.

Then remove any backing from your double sided tape if it has any and position the label onto your bag. Make sure the folds line up on top and position the label in about the middle of the bag.

Gently press it all down, making sure that the folded top is well covered with tape. You can position the fold on the front or the back of the label, whichever look works best for you!

And there you have it!

I hope you’ll have great fun making your own!
